Highfield Hall & Gardens Virtual Supper Club series hosts

Highfield Hall & Gardens is pleased to announce Ruairi McKiernan, Ireland’s best-selling author of Hitching for Hope for the Highfield Supper Club Series next installment.

Following the collapse of Ireland’s Celtic Tiger economy, Ruairí McKiernan questions whether he should join the mounting number of emigrants searching for greater opportunity elsewhere. McKiernan embarks on a hitchhiking odyssey with no money, no itinerary, and no idea where he might end up each night. His mission: to give voice to those emerging from one of the most painful periods of economic and social turmoil in Ireland’s history. Engaging, provocative, and sincere, Hitching for Hope is a testimony to the spirit of Ireland.

Ruairí McKiernan is an award-winning social innovator, campaigner, consultant, writer and speaker named as one of the top 10 people leading social change in Ireland by global social entrepreneurs organization, Ashoka. He is a Fulbright scholar, a Presidential appointee to Ireland's Council of State (2012-2019) and a recipient of numerous awards, including a Social Entrepreneurs Ireland award. Ruairí is a business graduate with almost 20 year’s experience in the areas of social innovation and community development. This includes his work as founder of the pioneering SpunOut.ie youth organization, which he started at the age of 25 and led for eight years as CEO, raising millions of euro, building a nationwide team of staff and volunteers, and championing young people's wellbeing across society.
