Cape Cod Hospital medical oncologist Jaclyn Flanigan, MD, will be honored as this year’s medical honoree at the annual Soiree for Alice’s Classroom, a fundraiser supporting cancer care on Cape Cod.
The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Oyster Harbors Yacht Club in Osterville. Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a chance to win two Roberto Coin Jewelers shopping sprees or a Love in Verona necklace.
The soiree is named in honor of Alice O’Neill, who was the organizing committee’s longest-serving member. An elementary classroom teacher for over 40 years (primarily at Osterville Elementary School), she dedicated her life after her retirement to helping cancer patients, all while navigating her own journey with cancer, before passing away in 2021.
The event will raise funds for Cape Cod Healthcare’s Cancer Support Fund, which provides essential programs and services for cancer patients and their families. Donations from this event help support initiatives such as the oral oncology pharmacy program, Cape Cod’s first lung cancer navigator, oncology social workers, nutrition counseling, scalp cooling treatments and wellness programs—along with practical assistance including transportation, grocery gift cards and comfort kits.
“Dr. Flanigan’s philosophy of treating the whole patient perfectly aligns with our mission to ease the cancer journey,” said Sharon Kennedy, Soiree committee member.
