Cape Wellness Collaborative to Host Film Screening in Wellfleet Rise Above will screen on May 31 at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater

The Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater will be hosting Cape Wellness Collaborative (CWC), a Cape Cod-based 501(c)(3) offering free-of-charge integrative wellness therapies and support for residents of Cape Cod and the Islands facing cancer, for a screening of the film Rise Above on May 31, 2025 at 7 PM in Wellfleet. The screening will be followed by a brief panel discussion and Q&A. Tickets are available at https://bit.ly/riseabove-atWHAT.

Rise Above, directed by Geoff Bassett and produced by Kim Roderiques, follows Cape Cod musician Sarah Swain’s journey of losing her mother to cancer and how that experience motivated her to make a difference in her community for others diagnosed with cancer. Rise Above was recently named an official selection and finalist in the Massachusetts International Film Festival Awards. The documentary has also received 3 semi-finalist nominations in the London International Filmmakers Festival, the Hawaii International Film Awards, and the Hollywood International Golden Age Festival.

“Rise Above is a deeply moving film that honors the personal journey of our founder, Sarah Swain, and the collective impact one person can make. This event is a beautiful reflection of the heart of our Cape Cod community, coming together to uplift and support those facing cancer. We are honored to share this story with you,” said Carol Bosco Baumann, Chief Executive Officer at CWC. “We are incredibly grateful to director Kim Roderiques, Christopher Ostrom at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, and Bruce Bierhans for their time, energy, and generosity in bringing this screening to life.”

As a local musician, Sarah Swain created the Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival in 2012 to raise money for cancer patients. Wanting to do more to help her community, in 2014, Sarah founded the non-profit Cape Wellness Collaborative under the guidance of attorney Bruce Bierhans. Sarah's work has made a broad reach within the Cape Cod community and beyond. In 2019, Sarah and Cape Wellness Collaborative were awarded the Massachusetts Nonprofit Council’s Innovation Award. In 2020, Sarah received the Massachusetts Red Cross Community Hero Award, and in 2021, she received the National Women’s Council of Churches Humanitarian Award.
