Falmouth Hospital awarded Hip, Knee and Shoulder Joint Replacement Certifications from The Joint Commission

Falmouth Hospital has again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Hip, Knee and Shoulder Replacement Certifications by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a healthcare organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care. By earning these three certifications, Falmouth Hospital has maintained its designation as a Center of Excellence for Joint Replacement.

These certifications recognize healthcare organizations that provide clinical programs across the continuum of care for joint replacement. The Joint Commission evaluates how organizations use clinical outcomes and performance measures to identify opportunities to improve care, as well as to educate and prepare patients and their caregivers for discharge.

Falmouth Hospital underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review, during which a Joint Commission reviewer evaluated compliance with related certification standards, including having a system in place to continually improve the quality of care, maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors and using a multidisciplinary approach to care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

“Our Hip, Knee and Shoulder Replacement Certifications recognize healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, The Joint Commission. “We commend Falmouth Hospital for using The Joint Commission certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and to strengthen its clinical programs to drive safer, higher quality and more compassionate care for individuals served.”

“Cape Cod Healthcare is committed to providing the highest quality care for our patients on Cape Cod. This national recognition is a testament to our clinical team’s ongoing dedication to patient safety and excellence in serving our community and helps us further position Falmouth Hospital for the future of integrated care,” said Cape Cod Healthcare President and CEO Michael K. Lauf.
