Higfield Hall & Gardens Stickwork Sculpture by Patrick Dougherty Complete and Named A Passing Fancy |
|
Highfield Hall & Gardens invites visitors to explore Patrick Dougherty’s magnificent, one-of-a-kind Stickwork sculpture, A Passing Fancy. Guests can amble through the doorways and peek through the windows of this monumental sculpture created by Dougherty and dozens of community volunteers in just 21 days. The formal opening for A Passing Fancy takes place at Highfield’s Summer Open House on Sunday, June 30 from 12:30-3:30 pm. The sculpture will grace the lawn at Highfield for two years.
A Passing Fancy is Dougherty’s 302nd Stickwork Sculpture. He has been investigating the process of weaving and binding saplings since the 1980s. His evocative and engaging sculptures have been seen worldwide — from Scotland to Japan to Brussels and across the United States. Visit stickwork.net to learn more about Dougherty’s life and work.
The sculpture is made possible with the generous support of sponsors: The Hermann Foundation, Hutker Architects, and the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation.
Highfield Hall & Gardens is located at 56 Highfield Drive in Falmouth, MA. For more information on A Passing Fancy and the Summer Open House, visit highfieldhall.org.
