Highfield Hall & Gardens presents Harry Allen and Rossano Sportiello!

Sunday, June 11, 4:00-6:0 pm

Highfield Hall & Gardens is pleased to announce the return of the always popular Harry Allen and Rossano Sportiello.

?Saxophonist Harry Allen is generally acclaimed as one of the leading swing players in jazz today. While other saxophone players have adopted the contemporary sound of John Coltrane, Mr. Allen has remained true to swing with a sound reminiscent of Stan Getz, Coleman Hawkins, and Ben Webster.

He has over 40 recordings under his own name, including three that have won Gold Disc Awards from Swing Journal Magazine. He has appeared on countless other recordings with jazz and pop legends such as Tony Bennett, Dave McKenna, John Pizzarelli, James Taylor, Ray Brown, Tommy Flanagan, Sheryl Crow, and Kenny Barron.

Italian-born pianist Rossano Sportiello began performing professionally in the Milan area at just 16 years old. His career took off when he won the 2009 Ascona (Switzerland) Jazz award in recognition of his mastery of stride piano, a style made famous by ragtime artists like Fats Waller.

Mr. Sportiello has played with many of the world’s finest jazz artists including Clark Terry, Bucky Pizzarelli, Scott Hamilton, Houston Person, and Dick Hyman. He has appeared on more than 40 albums to date including six solo efforts.,

Having collaborated for years, the chemistry and musical connection of these two superb musicians is in evidence whenever they perform together. Both Mr. Allen and Mr. Sportiello have performed at Highfield Hall and Gardens before and are among the most popular performers in the Falmouth Jazz series. This will be an evening of jazz not to be missed!
