Cahoon Museum of American Art Hosts Free Fun Friday on August 16

The Cahoon Museum of American Art, in conjunction with the Highland Street Foundation, will host Free Fun Friday on August 16 from 10:00am – 4:00pm. The event is free and all are welcome.

To kick off the day, steel drum instructor Amy Hughes and her students will perform from 11:00am – 12:30pm. At 12:00pm, Puppet Man will appear for an hour and from 1:15pm to 2:15pm Bubble Man will delight visitors with his giant, floating, magical orbs under the Blue Trees in the Museum’s yard.

The Museum will be open throughout the event and visitors may view the current exhibitions: Exquisite Shells: The Art of Sailors Valentines, Valerie Hegarty: Secrets of the Sea, Selections from the Permanent Collection, and The Blue Trees, which can be seen on the Museum grounds. The Museum’s Family Room will be available and visitors are encouraged to take a minute to cool off and learn the reason why the trees outside have been colored blue.

Free Fun Fridays are sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation and offer visitors no-cost admission to 100 of the most treasured cultural institutions in Massachusetts. Every Friday, from the end of June through the end of August, multiple sites are open for free.
