Highfield Hall & Gardens presents a summer Garden talk series

Highfield Hall & Gardens is pleased to announce a summer garden talk series. Beginning on Sunday, May 22 at 4:00 pm, author, lecturer, and gardener Jana Milbocker, Principal of Enchanted Gardens, will talk about Artist Gardens of New England. Some of our most beloved painters, sculptors and authors were inspired by the gardens they created. Join us to experience these diverse and delightful retreats, hear more about their history and stories, and get inspired yourself! Jana loves to visit gardens and historic sites and share her trips through her books and lectures. The presentation will be followed by Q& A.

On Thursday, June 16, at 4:00 pm, Marion Mako, author and professional gardener in the UK will talk about Women and Gardens. From Adam and Eve through modern garden makers, people have cultivated their green spaces and created personal retreats. Inspired by various historical styles, Ms. Mako has explored estates in the UK and Europe and brings her depth of knowledge to each presentation. Her lectures are illustrated with current photographs and archival material.  Join us for this lively, informative, and funny presentation with bushels of lovely images to accompany the talk. The presentation will be followed by Q& A.

On July 8 at 4:00 pm, Lorraine Ballato will share her love of Hydrangeas as part of the Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival. Presenting Success with Hydrangeas, Ms. Ballato will discuss all things Hydrangea. No garden is complete without this queen of American shrubs. Through slides and discussion, you’ll learn all about hydrangeas, including the many recent introductions that have hit the market, their proper care and the hardy cultivars that perform well despite over enthusiastic pruning and finicky weather. You’ll leave this talk never again having to ask the question, “Why doesn’t’ my hydrangea bloom?” Ms. Ballato is a professional horticulturist, Advanced Master Gardener, writer, and instructor, The presentation will be followed by Q& A.
