Cape Cod Healthcare to Open Cardiology Practice at Oppenheim Medical Building in Chatham

(Hyannis, MA – June XX, 2021) In a continuing effort to provide superior cardiology services to the Cape community, Cape Cod Healthcare has announced the opening of the Cape Cod Healthcare Cardiovascular Center in Chatham at the Oppenheim Medical Building on June 23, 2021. The new practice will be led by established cardiologist Elissa Thompson, MD, who will provide office cardiology services to the lower Cape community.
Dr. Thompson is a cardiologist with Cape Cod Healthcare and will continue to practice at the CCHC Cardiovascular Center in Hyannis in addition to the new Chatham location. She has seen patients on the lower Cape since 2016 at the CCHC Cardiovascular Center in Harwich at the Fontaine Outpatient Center. Dr. Thompson graduated from Johns Hopkins University and attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She is certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease and is the Medical Director of the Cape Cod Healthcare Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in Hyannis, and serves as Director of the Healthy Parks/Healthy People Program, a partnership between the Cape Cod National Seashore and CCHC.
Located in Chatham at 1629 Main Street, the Oppenheim Medical Building was funded with support from a generous gift provided by David and Gail Oppenheim. In addition to the new cardiology services, outpatient rehabilitation services and lab services are also provided at the Oppenheim Medical Building.
