Hyannis Harbor Hotel -fire |
|
In the afternoon on Sunday, April 25, fire broke out at the Hyannis Harbor Hotel.
The fire caused extensive damage to one of the wings of the building. We are
all grateful that no one was injured. We are also thankful to the Hyannis Fire
Department, alongside the fire departments from Barnstable, West Barnstable,
Yarmouth, Cotuit, Dennis, Mashpee, Sandwich, and Centerville that responded
to the incident. Their professionalism, bravery, and efficiency successfully
limited the damage in wind driven conditions.
While the fire did significant damage, impacting a full wing of the hotel, the
hotel is continuing business operations. Like so many of our colleagues in the
restaurant and hotel industry, our business has been severely impacted by
Covid-19 since March of 2020, and we looked forward to a more normal 2021
season. We are heartbroken by the impact this incident is having on our guests.
We are working to accommodate future guests in our separate freestanding
building overlooking Hyannis Harbor. We are also evaluating the services
and amenities we will be able to offer this season because of the incident.
Our wonderful team is responding to the challenges presented by these
circumstances, and we do not expect any reduction in our team this season.
What has otherwise been a deeply difficult situation has been offset by an
outpouring of support and encouragement from our neighbors, guests, and
friends in the community. We are now working with the Town of Barnstable
and our local contractors to begin the repair and rebuilding process. Our
entire team is committed to restoring the damaged building and our
ongoing efforts to operate a welcoming and safe establishment.
